Service Specialist, Building Automation Position Responsibilities
- Using well-developed troubleshooting skills will respond to and resolve a variety of customer service calls with Building Automation Systems (such as Siemens Desigo CC, ABB, and others), scheduled service contract work, emergency and after-hours calls on a timely basis.
- Provides technical support to end-users and mentor/assist junior team members when applicable.
- May work to startup of Building Automation Systems on small service jobs.
- Completes accurate and detailed service reports for the customer and the organization in a timely manner to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.
- May provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, system audits and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation.
- Communicates effectively with and works with the other members of the team consistently to improve overall operations of the Service Department and company.
- Keep customers advised of the nature of service provided, outstanding issues, and recommended system improvements, upgrades, and/or repairs.
- Works in collaboration with Account Managers to promote the sale of add-on work.
- May provide training to customers on electronic control systems operations.
- Works with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to their systems.
- Participates in the setup and configuration of PC workstations, user interfaces, data servers, IP Networking devices, protocols, routers, switches, mass storage devices, and hubs. Confirms proper network performance.
- Operational testing or troubleshooting of Sequences of Operation, Verification and Acceptance: Runs reports to analyze system operation, works with customers to demonstrate system operation, and verifies consistency with the Service Contract/Project scope of work.
Service Specialist, Building Automation Qualifications
- Associates Degree in electronics or equivalent experience.
- Five (5) years of experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting building automation controls systems.
- Excellent customer service skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Skilled in the PC applications and in the use of word processing and spreadsheet programs
- Experience with Desigo CC, ABB is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or direct digital controls systems (DDC), and ability to test and write modifications to systems software in multiple languages with little oversight.
- Skilled in programming, start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting complex Building Automation Systems.
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
- The primary work location is on active BAS customer sites and some active construction sites. Candidates will need to be able to perform physical activities including lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, and climbing stairs. Candidates will also need to adhere to safety guidelines and requirements as established by company policies and practices
- Proven experience in the integration of various industry protocols, such as BACnet, N2, Modbus, Siemens P1/P2 protocols, etc.
