General Manager Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for application, design, promotion, installation, verification and service of all company products and services
- Responsible to develop and administer new product and services in the Houston area
- Responsible for marketing to building owners, developers, architects and engineers of turnkey packages, including feasibility studies and/or justification, project engineering, implementation and construction management, system maintenance and service and alternative financing
- Work with and assist the President in development of the annual profit, and operating/strategic plans, as well as employee career development for the branch and each department
- Meet or exceed bookings, revenue, earnings, and customer satisfaction objectives as characterized in the Predetermined Plan for Profit
- Forecast, track and coordinate material manpower and cash requirements
- Monitor current month and to-date bookings against the sales forecast for branch and departments
- Assist to establish the branch organizational structure and modify it as conditions warrant
- Ensure recruitment and retention of employees as required to meet or exceed assigned objectives
- Establish Quarterly Corporate Goals and communicate to all members of management
- Develop innovations and ideas on new equipment, processes, operating techniques, and procedures to reduce direct job expense, improve products, and enhance safety
- Actively pursue the established profit margin for projects and follow through to the end of the project to make sure the estimating process is accurate
- Approve and initial all new contracts. Ensure terms are agreeable, costs are covered, profit margins are in line with company expectations and resources are available to execute the contract
- Other duties as assigned
General Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business (BBA) or related field required; MBA preferred
- Five (5) plus years of management with experience in engineering, installation and service of building technology systems required
- Ten (10) plus years of experience in the HVAC, BAS, Security or Professional Building Services industry with management in operations for the last six (6) years strongly preferred
General Manager Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must understand the construction and service business theory
- Must have the specific industry knowledge necessary to evaluate risk and make decisions that benefit the company
- Must have general understanding of contract law, taxes and construction contracts
- Must have the demonstrated ability to manage people effectively
- Must possess the business skills needed to coordinate the total growth effort of the company
- Must be able to prepare and deliver complex product presentations, and be able to train and coach others in effective presentation of programs
